Huddersfield and Leeds passengers told landslide chaos won’t end …

Disruption to train services caused by a landslide between Dewsbury and Ravensthorpe will continue until Sunday night, passengers have been told today.

Network Rail engineers are currently on site investigating the landslip problem and it is anticipated that all train lines will be blocked after today’s service so that repairs can take place.

Disruption, which began yesterday, is expected until the end of service on Sunday November 12 “to ensure the railway is safe for trains to run”, National Rail said in an update today (Thursday).

National Rail said: “Disruption is expected until the end of the day on Sunday 12 November.” The landslip has caused disruption on Northern services between Leeds and Wigan Wallgate as well as TransPennine Express services between Leeds and Huddersfield, and between Saltburn and Manchester Airport, and between Newcastle/Scarborough and Manchester Piccadilly, also between Hull/Newcastle and Liverpool Lime Street

The following advice has been issued today to customers by National Rail:

Advice to Northern customers:

Services running between Leeds and Wigan Wallgate via Dewsbury in both directions will be diverted via Bradford Interchange. Morley, Batley, Dewsbury, Mirfield and Brighouse will not be served.

Advice to TransPennine Express users:

Tickets dated November 8, will be valid for travel up to and including Monday November 13. All TransPennine Express service from Leeds to Huddersfield in this direction only will be diverted where possible.

Replacement transport has been requested to run between Leeds and Huddersfield in both directions.
